Events tend to be platform-specific or channel-specific rather than general business rooms, and the attendees are frequently owner-operators rather than employees. The calendar is strongly seasonal: almost nobody in this sector is networking in the last quarter of the year, and everybody is in the first. Information sharing between non-competing founders is unusually open.

What to do before you go

Work out whether a room is operators or suppliers. Rooms of founders swapping what is actually working are valuable and rooms of agencies waiting to pitch them are not, and from the outside the two look identical on a listing.
